Calla Lily and Arum Lily

Originating in southern Africa the Calla and Arum Lilly, look very similar. They both have long tubular hollow stems uncurling into a unique trumpet shaped bloom. The main differences between Calla and Arum Lilies are their size and colour availability. Arum tend to be larger, floppier and mainly white and green, whereas Calla Lilies are smaller, more elegant and have more variety of colours e.g. deep aubergine, mango, yellow, white, green and pink with new varieties being released regularly due to popularity.
The Calla or Arum Lilies are an ideal choice for dramatic and contemporary bridal bouquets, the glossy texture and visual interest add a great impact with sophisticated slender gowns.

They make perfect fillers amongst other complementary flowers. Combined with similar tones for a showcase of vibrant colour or a single arrangement of white Lilies tied with a classic ribbon, this flower can be as simple or versatile as you wish.

Lady Slipper Vine - Thumbergia mysorenesis

The Lady Slipper has been beautifully blossoming over the last few years in winter. The flower really looks like a miniature slipper that a tiny lady can slip on.

Lady slipper is also called the Tropical Wisteria.
When the vine climbs across the pagola, the leaves spread  evenly cover with bright yellow and maroon flowers dropping down.
The flowers are about 30-80cm long that create a gorgeous swinging curtain.
It would have been very nice if they had a beautiful fragrance; the flower has no smell.

Sim Carnation

This dog flower arrangement is very popular gift for Baby arrival, Birthday, and Mother's day or other special occasions.
If you want to give something different to an ordinary flower arrangement, this is the one very charming and special present for someone who you really care for.

Each dog needs 6 sim carnations to make; 4 for a head and 2 for  paws. I usually choose pale tone sim carnations to make the dogs
look real. Brush gently the frills of the carnations to create the dog's fluffy fur.  Carefully position some black berries into the face, this is a crucial part to create the dog's cute expression.
I like to use this arrangement in a basket because puppies can hold their little paws onto the basket's edge then fill up a basket full of seasonal flowers and greenery. Just like puppies  snuggling together in a beautiful flower garden.

Actually I made this particular arrangement for myself when I lost my precious dog 2 years ago. I put all of my heart with grief into this arrangement to thank him for giving us such  happy memories for the last 16 years.
I displayed  the "dog" flower arrangement next to the little pot (his ashes) and a picture of him. The flowers really healed my pain at the time.
It's amazing what the beauty of nature can really do for you...That's why I love flowers so much.

Subtropical garden

I just want to explain about the meaning of Ganesha. A lot of my clients have asked me what's the meaning so...

Ganesha is a very popular, widely worshiped universal God. Ganesha removes the barrier to the success of any business, brings prosperity and good luck. Also learning, governing wisdom, responsible for cultural and artistic accomplishment.

I'm not religious. I Just love the sound of the god's power and his looks; elephant head with big belly...I transported a big and heavy carved Ganesha from Bali and located in the beautiful subtropical garden in my floral design studio in the Gold Coast.
I was very lucky that my husband designed the landscape and created such a stunning home and work environment in 2003. My studio is in the back of the house, it's so private and relaxed.
Being surrounded by such a garden provides me with an endless source of inspiration when working.
It  appeared on the well known television gardening shows "Better Homes and Garden", "Burkes backyard" and published in magazines "Notebook", "Better Homes and Garden" and "House and Garden"
